WASHINGTON – Congressman Joe Wilson (SC-02) issued the following statement today after Boeing announced that they have chosen their Charleston, South Carolina facility as the site for a second 787 Dreamliner final assembly line.

“This announcement is tremendous news for the people of South Carolina.  Our state has a tradition of attracting quality jobs and industry including BMW and Michelin, and I am grateful that Boeing has chosen to expand its operations.  As a subcommittee ranking member on the House Armed Services Committee, I know firsthand of the professionalism of Boeing.  This decision is a testament to the strong workforce in South Carolina and the proactive leadership of South Carolinians – including Secretary of Commerce Joe Taylor.  We are all committed to working to keep and bring more jobs to South Carolina.  I look forward to continuing that work on behalf of those we have the honor to represent.”
